This photograph is more of an exercise in photoshop rather than solely an exercise in photography.  I purposely focused the photograph on this slightly vintage looking bike, but while touching up the photograph, I wanted to try to set the bike further apart from the rest of the background than it already was.

The ‘stained glass’ effect in photoshop elements has always been one of my favorites, so I decided to highlight the main bike by dramatically changing the background. I especially like how the shadowy areas near the bike were changed into stained glass, which creates a special contrast effect.  This bike was also near other bikes in a bike rack, and the stained glass effect makes it still possible to decipher another bike in the background.  I entitled this photograph “Mind’s Eye” because imagination is an important part of getting the full effect of this image. What do you see in this photo?

Don’t be afraid to try something different. Doing something nontraditional and unusual can be a nice break.
